Our client is the leading food-for-work marketplace technology company in the US, connecting workplaces with a nationwide network of over 100,000 restaurant partners. They're in the middle of a multi-year re-platform onto a modern services architecture, and partner integrations — connecting their systems with restaurant, delivery, and enterprise partner platforms — are a critical piece of that.

We're looking for a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to build and own the Integration Hub: the shared platform that moves events between our client's systems and their partners', with versioned event models, durable execution (idempotency, retries, replay), and self-service tooling that lets other engineering teams ship their own integrations. This is a high-ownership role — you'll shape the platform's roadmap and architecture, not just execute against one already defined, and the first systems feeding into it are being migrated off the client's existing Rails monolith.

5+ years in software engineering experience building backend systems and APIs in production

Experience in Go, or deep proficiency in a comparable backend language such as Java

Strong AI-assisted delivery fluency, and clear judgment on where it helps vs. where rigor matters

Experience with transactional databases such as Postgres, including schema design and migrations

Experience designing APIs, service boundaries, data models, and integration patterns in distributed systems

Experience with Event-driven architecture and durable execution (idempotency, delivery guarantees, retries) — ideally hands-on with Temporal, Cadence, or Step Functions

Experience with JSON Schema, OpenAPI, and code generation, or with evolving contracts that other teams already depend on

Clear written and verbal communication on system design and technical tradeoffs, and comfort making decisions with an incomplete picture

Every job requires English proficiency, being based in LATAM.

Building integrations against third-party partner APIs, where the contract belongs to the other side and you work with what they give you

An entrepreneurial mindset: you take ownership of outcomes, spot what the platform needs before it's asked for, and move it forward

A strong quality mindset across testing, CI/CD, telemetry, and production ownership

Experience with Kafka, other event streaming platforms, or webhook-based integrations

Experience with OpenTelemetry and Datadog, and building operational tooling that non-engineers can use

Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, and secrets management, and comfort owning how your service gets deployed

Experience with Ruby on Rails — the first systems sending events into the Integration Hub live in our client's Rails monolith

In this role, you'll be expected to take ownership of the following responsibilities as part of your day-to-day work:

Build the shared services, APIs, and Temporal workflows that move events between our client's systems and their partners' platforms

Design and evolve the platform's core capabilities: versioned event models, ingestion and validation, the registration layer that routes events to the systems that want them, and the adapter contract partner-specific logic is built against

Apply durable execution patterns — idempotency, retries, timeouts, compensation, replay, recovery — so a partner outage or a bad payload stays recoverable, with no duplicate deliveries

Build for the engineers who will use this platform: adapter templates, examples, documentation, and test tooling that let other teams ship an integration on their own

Build the platform's UI for registering, configuring, and operating integrations, so teams can manage their own integrations without going through us

Build end-to-end visibility into the platform, with correlation across system boundaries

Handle credentials, tokens, and sensitive partner data with least-privilege access, rotation, retention, and audit trails

Apply AI effectively across planning, coding, review, and testing, and contribute patterns that improve how the team works with AI

Partner with engineering and product teams across the company to set integration standards, shape what the platform builds next, and get those teams up and running on it

Shape the roadmap and architectural direction of the platform: which capabilities we build next, and how we build them

Own quality through testing, observability, and safe rollout practices, and share an on-call rotation we work to keep uneventful
