Our client is looking for an engineer to own the day-to-day health and maintenance of their PostgreSQL databases on AWS. This is a platform/infrastructure role rather than an application-development one. You’ll work alongside product engineering teams, who rely on you to keep their databases reliable and well-resourced.

5+ years in DevOps/Database/Platform roles

Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS and/or PostgreSQL (ideally both).

Proven experience maintaining databases at the platform/infrastructure level: upgrades, proactive monitoring, reactive issue resolution, resource management, and database configuration.

Experience with Ruby (strongly preferred) and/or Go.

Track record of executing database migrations with no or minimal downtime.

Comfortable working cross-functionally with multiple product/engineering teams, not just within a single team's codebase.

Every job requires English proficiency, being based in LATAM.

Bonus Skills

Experience building internal tooling or platforms that other engineering teams self-serve from (provisioning, mocks, shared infra).

Background in Site Reliability Engineering, Database Administration, or Data/Platform Engineering in addition to backend development.

In this role, you'll be expected to take ownership of the following responsibilities as part of your day-to-day work:

Perform PostgreSQL version upgrades and configuration changes on AWS RDS.

Monitor databases proactively and resolve issues quickly to prevent incidents.

Manage database resources, such as increasing disk space and adjusting capacity.

Support product teams during maintenance work, including stopping and starting application and background-queue services as needed. No application code knowledge required.
