Our client, a leading independent research firm, is looking for a Data Platform & Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of their data infrastructure. This is a hands-on role for someone who has built or owned a data platform end-to-end — not a support role within a larger data team. You will own the AWS-based data environment (S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda), ensure its reliability, performance, and scalability, and work closely with the analytics/AI team that consumes that data. Data science or analytics knowledge is valued as a complement to your platform expertise, not a substitute for it.

5+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering

Working knowledge of AWS (S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda)

Proven ownership of a data platform — built from scratch or evolved significantly

Hands-on experience with Python (pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, etc.) and SQL

Experience working in small teams, comfortable being hands-on across the full stack

Experience in implementing AI and machine learning models.

Every job requires English proficiency, being based in LATAM.

Bonus Skills

Experience with Tableau, Retool, or similar BI platforms.

Experience working with financial, telecommunications, or geospatial datasets.

Mentoring or leadership experience

Understanding of data modeling, data validation, and pipeline monitoring for reliability and reproducibility.

In this role, you'll be expected to take ownership of the following responsibilities as part of your day-to-day work:

Own, maintain, and optimize the AWS-based data environment (S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda), ensuring reliability, performance, and cost efficiency

Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, and transformation (SQL and Python)

Implement data quality and integrity checks across the pipeline, ensuring reliability of data and accuracy of downstream analytics

Document data structures, workflows, and AWS configurations to ensure transparency and continuity

Collaborate with the analytics/AI team to provide clean, well-structured, reliable datasets for dashboards, automations, and ML workflows

Support the integration of AI/ML components into production data flows, in partnership with the analytics team

Propose and drive improvements to the data platform and infrastructure practices
